Kerenza's Story So Far

Kerenza’s journey in the music business started back in 2017. After joining a band with her four best friends she found her drive and passion for music and the music business.

Music has always been a part of Kerenza’s life with her dad and grandpa both being musicians and the encouragement she had from a young age to pick up an instrument and start playing. Going to gigs has always been a part of Kerenza’s life with her first one being ‘Status Quo’ at the age of three. Ever since that first gig Kerenza has attended and got involved with as many gigs as she possibly can.

Whilst in her college band and studying production arts, she developed a strong passion for promoting and arranging shows. This led her to finally find her calling in the music business side of the industry. From then on Kerenza threw herself into as many projects as she could. During 2017 Kerenza found herself working at Port Eliot festival as a stagehand / assistant stage manager and fell in love with this role. At the festival she worked with act’s such as Russel Brand and Henge helping coordinate getting on and off stage and ensure the smooth running of the show. She plans to take the festival work to the next level in the next few years with plans to work as assistant stage manager for two thousand tree’s festival in 2023!

After managing and performing with ‘Minty Hindu’ for three great years, after covid the band decided to call it quits. From minty hindu Kerenza gained skills in booking show’s across the UK and planning tour’s this when she decided tour & events management is the career she wanted to pursue. The most obvious starting point for Kerenza was getting out of Cornwall and attending university so she applied to Bath Spa University.

During her time at Bath Spa University, Kerenza developed her skills as an events manager and musician. Gaining many contacts with other like-minded people and gaining potential clientele through collaboration and events.

University is where she met her best friend and current band mate Jaylaan, and together they formed a brand new band called ‘Dear Sister’. They then roped in Minty Hindu’s drummer Ike, Lead guitarist Jamie and rhythm guitarist Rowan to complete the ensemble. They have been writing music for a few months and have just successfully played their debut gig at Crofters Rights supporting ‘Cuffs’. A gig which was hosted by Kerenza’s very own event’s company ‘Cutaway Events’.

Kerenza started ‘Cutaway Events’ back in 2017 just before the lockdown as a small online artist promotion business. Cutaway Events rebranded late last year and is now a successful Bristol events company hosting many events with local and national artists at grassroot venues.

Most recently Kerenza began working as a runner at the O2 in Bristol and is really enjoying working with such a great venue. She is doing this alongside a MA in Popular Music at BIMM she plan’s to keep improving her skills and gaining as much experience and knowledge as possible.

Kerenza has big plans for the future and is currently working building her clientele and starting her tour management business. She also has some big plans for ‘Cutaway Events’ this year so there is lots of exciting news to come!
